How to Become a Casual Heel Wearer

Celebrity darlings like Paris Hilton and Kimora Lee Simmons are blueprints for daily heel wearing…

Showing out at every event and even on their daily outings dressed to the nines with some heels to match. For those of us who love fashion and know how uncomfortable heels can be, this is admirable, aspirational, and no longer unobtainable.

Here is your guide on how to become a casual heel wearer:

Generally, a casual heel is a “comfortable” heel. Anything lower in height with a thicker heel like block heels, wedges, and kitten heels are usually the standard here.

However, in my opinion, if you can walk in ‘em casually, it’s a casual heel.

The most important thing about wearing heels is knowing how to walk in them. Heel enthusiasts  know when you buy a heel you need to break it in. There is no shame in sporting a stiletto heel on a day-to-day basis, but wobbling to and fro is not the way to go.

The best way to break in a new heel is wearing them around your house when you’re doing chores. This helps your feet get used to the feeling of the shoe so when you go out you’re not shocked and in excruciating pain. Or at the very least you’re used to the excruciating pain.

When walking in heels, especially high heels, walk heel-toe. (So place your heel down first and then your toe.) If you’re not familiar with walking in heels you’ll be tempted to walk on the balls of your feet first and then place the heel down. That is the quickest route to embarrassment and perhaps a chipped tooth.

Now, take a look inside your closet (and your life.) What’s your style? What kind of colors do you wear? Do you walk a lot? Do you work in a corporate setting? Do you have weak ankles? (If so, I strongly suggest avoiding a heel above 3 inches or calf raises.)

After answering these questions you’ll be able to properly choose a heel that compliments your style and your lifestyle. ❤
